Terms of Use & Privacy

Transparent information about how MediaLens works and protects your privacy.

Terms of Use

By using MediaLens, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Service Description

MediaLens is a free, frontend-only web application that allows users to preview social media content by pasting links. The service operates entirely in your browser and does not require server-side processing for content previews.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree to use MediaLens only for lawful purposes and in ways that do not infringe the rights of others. Specifically, you agree not to:

  • Use the service to access or share content you don't have permission to view
  • Attempt to bypass platform privacy settings or access private content
  • Use the service for commercial scraping or automated requests
  • Attempt to overload or disrupt the service

3. Content Rights

MediaLens does not host or store any social media content. All content displayed through our service remains the property of the original creators and platforms. We simply provide a preview interface using official embed methods.

You must respect all copyrights and only preview content you are authorized to view.

4. Service Availability

We strive to keep MediaLens available and functional, but we cannot guarantee 100% uptime. The service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance or due to circumstances beyond our control.

Platform APIs that we rely on may change without notice, which could temporarily affect functionality.

5. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. The most current version will always be posted on this page. Continued use of MediaLens after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

1. No Data Collection

MediaLens is designed to operate entirely in your browser. We do not:

  • Collect or store the links you paste
  • Track your usage or browsing behavior
  • Use analytics cookies or tracking pixels
  • Require any form of registration or login
  • Store personal information about users

The preview process happens locally in your browser. Links are not sent to our servers.

2. Third-Party APIs

When you paste a link, your browser may make requests directly to social media platforms' embed APIs. These requests are made from your browser to the respective platforms, not through our servers.

Platforms may have their own privacy policies regarding embed requests. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of platforms whose content you preview.

3. Browser Storage

MediaLens may use your browser's local storage to remember your preferences (like dark mode settings, if implemented). This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.

You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.

4. External Resources

We use the following external resources that may have their own privacy policies:

  • Bootstrap CSS/JS: Loaded from local files
  • FontAwesome Icons: Loaded from CDNJS
  • Example Images: Loaded from Pexels.com

These resources are commonly used across the web and follow standard privacy practices.

5. Children's Privacy

MediaLens is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. If you believe we might have any information from a child under 13, please contact us.

Our Promise: We built MediaLens with privacy as a core principle. We don't want your data - we just want to provide a useful tool.

Content Responsibility

MediaLens does not create, host, or control the content being previewed. We are not responsible for:

  • The accuracy, legality, or appropriateness of previewed content
  • Content removal or restrictions by original platforms
  • Copyright infringement by content creators
  • Platform terms of service violations

Users are responsible for ensuring they have the right to view and share the content they preview.

Technical Disclaimer

Some content may not preview correctly due to:
